The Acai (pronounced ass-eye-eee) berry grow in large fruit clusters on Acai palms, native to Brazil.

The black-purple acai berry is similar in appearance and size to a grape, but having less pulp (about 90% of an Acai berry is seed, with 10% being pulp).

Research in to acai is revealing extremely high concentrations of "antioxidants", and specifically an especially powerful antioxidant, "anthoycanin".
